World-leading investment champions BVCA welcome Fortunis Capital as members
The world-leading body for the private equity and venture capital industry in the UK has rolled out the red carpet to welcome Fortunis Capital as its latest member.
The British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has more than 750 member firms - including over 325 fund managers and 125 institutional investors – representing £500billion of funds under management.
They said: “A big welcome to Fortunis Capital as the latest BVCA member. Fortunis Capital is an impact venture capital investment firm that seeks to deliver positive and tangible benefits to our society and world by investing in innovation. We look forward to representing you in the industry.”
The BVCA has become the respected voice representing a world-class industry, informing governments and policy makers at home and abroad on regulatory, technical and legal issues.
Fortunis Capital are delighted to be part of the BVCA movement. Chief Operating Officer Justin MacRae said: “With the economy under its greatest pressure in 300 years, there never has been a greater need to invest and support innovators at home and abroad who will make a positive impact on society while delivering strong results for investors.
“The BVCA will help us ensure that our voice is heard as the government tackles the economic challenges in the post Covid-19 era.”
Michael Moore, Director General of the BVCA, says our sector is key to “building the champions of tomorrow”.
Their recent Innovation Nation report demonstrates how venture capital and angel investment are powering the UK’s lead in European tech growth, contributing £37billion to UK GDP.
Mr Moore said: “This report shows how ground-breaking technologies and services are being created at pace. And while the money matters, the expertise from these investors is also critical to push the tech sector forwards.
“The talent is here, the technology is here, but, crucially, the funding is here. The Innovation Nation report illustrates just how important angel finance and venture capital are to the UK economy, providing investment and expertise to foster enterprise and build the champions of tomorrow.
“At a time when the UK is embracing a new role on the global stage, it is imperative fast-growing, innovative businesses and the capital that supports them are given every opportunity to thrive.”
In July, Fortunis Capital became the landmark 101st signatory to the International Finance Corporation-led standard for impact investments that target positive social or environmental change and financial returns.
We joined other high-profile signatories such as BlackRock Investments, Credit Suisse, BNP Paribas Asset Management, The European Investment Bank and the Dutch Development Bank.
The Operating Principles for Impact Management initiative was led by the IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, to provide a transparent and auditable framework so impact considerations are purposefully integrated throughout the investment life cycle.
